UPDATED: Fort Wayne Credit Union Nearly Robbed Monday Morning

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne credit union was nearly robbed Monday morning, but it wasn't thanks to a quick-thinking teller.

Police responded to the Public Service Credit Union at Hobson and Coliseum just before noon.

A male suspect reportedly couldn't get in because a teller noticed he was holding a handgun. Another teller was able to hit the automatic lock on the front doors. The suspect got through the entrance door, but not the interior door and tripped on the rug on the way out.

Police say he was a black male wearing white gloves, a grey hooded sweatshirt, dark colored pants or sweats, a camouflage ski mask, and had a black handgun.

He got into a silver Buick Century with three other suspects and drove off. They have not been captured yet.

If you have any information on this robbery attempt, contact Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP (7867).
