UPDATE: Victims Identified in Smith Street Shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): We now know the identity of yesterday's shooting victims. 18-year-old Jovan Sims, of Fort Wayne, was last reported to be in critical condition. 18-year-old Brenzel Bryant, also of Fort Wayne, was killed.

One man is dead and another is in man is in critical condition after shots were fired Tuesday afternoon.

Police got the call to Smith Street just east of Weisser Park around 3:47 p.m. Once on the scene they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both of the victims were taken to local hospitals. The victim in serious condition was responsive and able to communicate with police. The other victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but later died. 

Two handguns believed to be involved in the shooting were found on the scene, in the backyard of a nearby residence.  

Due to the timing of the shooting. Fort Wayne Community Schools were notified so they could take appropriate action regarding student drop off.  Smith St was blocked off from Drexel Ave. to Eckart St during the investigation.
