UPDATE: Teen Dies from Injuries in School Parking Lot Crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP): We now have more information on the 16-year-old girl who died last week after suffering a head injury when she was thrown from the roof rack of an SUV in a high school parking lot.
Reports say Mellannie R. Bishop was injured Sept. 24 when she and another teenage girl lost their footing atop an SUV that another teen was driving outside Wayne High School. Two other girls were also riding atop the vehicle.
 
Bishop fell hard onto the pavement outside the school, suffering a serious head injury, as the SUV made a sharp turn.
 
The Allen County Coroner's Office says Bishop, who was a junior at the school, died Thursday after a week in intensive care. The coroner ruled her death accidental resulting from blunt force trauma.

The coroners office says Mellanie Bishop died Thursday morning from blunt force injuries she suffered in a September 24 crash at Wayne High School on Winchester Road.

Bishop had been at a local hospital since the crash. The death is the 20th on Allen County Road ways in 2014.
