NORTH WEBSTER, Ind. (WOWO): A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for DeKalb and Whitley Counties in Indiana. The watch also covers Defiance, Williams, Paulding and Putnam Counties in Ohio.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and continue through the early evening. Some of those storms could have damaging winds and large hail.
These storms could have winds up to 50 mph, patches of cloud, ground lightning and brief periods of heavy rain.
Weather spotters have reported a number of downed trees as the storm front moved through northern Indiana. Reports include in Pleasant Lake in Steuben County, near Milford in northern Kosciusko County and about two miles north of Plato in LaGrange Counties.
Forecasters warn that winds could cause damage and blow objects around. You are urged to seek shelter in a sturdy structure and stay away from higher objects such as trees.
