UPDATE: Syracuse Shooting Victim Succumbs to Injuries

                                    

SYRACUSE, Ind. (WOWO): 23-year-old Tara Thornburg of Syracuse, who was shot in the head by 22-year-old Brandon Woody, has succumbed to her injuries, that according to the Allen County Coroner's Office. 


Woody was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after shots were fired at 12:30 a.m., February 19th at a home on E. Main Street. According to a probable cause affidavit Thornburg called 911 saying that she needed help and that Woody shot her boyfriend in the head. Dispatch then lost contact with Thornburg. Syracuse police officers went to the home and found Thornburg conscious with a gunshot wound to the head. Police say she stated twice that “Brandon Woody” shot her. She was then airlifted to the hospital. 


19-year-old Joshua Knisley, was found in the upstairs of the home with a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead on the scene. 

 

A Fort Wayne police officer spoke with the doctor who treated Thornburg and stated that the bullet entered through her mouth and went through her CI vertebrae. He continued to say that he thought the weapon was placed inside Thornburg's mouth when she was shot.
