FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Tense times Monday afternoon on the city's north side.

Just after 3 p.m., witnesses say dozens of police units surrounded a vehicle on Washington Center Road just west of Coldwater Road. That's where a suspect, reportedly with a gun, waited inside his SUV.

Authorities say the man had just broken up with his girlfriend and was threatening to kill himself.

A business owner told WOWO News, after about twenty minutes SWAT team members and a vehicle surrounded the vehicle.

The man turned himself in, peacefully,  after officers asked for him to surrender  over a public address system.  The situation blocked the roadway for about an hour . Residents and employees of nearby businesses were urged to stay inside.
