Fort Wayne Police are investigating a shooting that happened at the intersection of Indiana Avenue and W. Rudisill Boulevard.

They got the call about shots being fired just after 1:00 p.m.. Once officers arrived on the scene they found Gerelle Borum suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and later died.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and were able to provide police with a description of a vehicle seen during the time of the shooting.

Officers initiated a traffic stop in the area of Lafayette Street and Rudisill Boulevard on a vehicle matching the description and then took the driver in for questioning; an arrest has not been made in connection to this incident.

In the meantime, the incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department.  

Police say Josiah Thomas is being held in connection with the crime.
