AUBURN, Ind. (WOWO): On the coldest night of the year, about six thousand electrical residents in Auburn and nearby communities were left power for nearly seven hours.

Service was restored around 1 a.m. to all residents. Tracy Warner, a spokesman with I&M, said repairs to I&M's system was completed just before 11 p.m., but worked to “re-energize” the substation. 

During the height of the blackout, the community set up several heating stations to provide relief from the extreme bitter cold and artic-like wind chills. 

According to KPCNews.com, the Auburn Electric Utility's entire territory lost power Monday night.  With the record low temperatures in Indiana, Mayor Norm Yoder told The Star that the city's utility is fed by I&M and the feed went cold around 6:35 p.m.
