UPDATE: Police End Manhunt, Find Suspect

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A massive manhunt lasted for 4 hours near Crooked Lake as police searched for a suspect, following a shooting this afternoon near State Road 109 and 700 North.  Around 8:34 p.m. Monday night police got a call about a suspicious person near State Road 109 and Sycamore Drive in Noble County, then again at the nearby Goss Grocery.  The man matched the description of the wanted suspect.

After a short foot pursuit, Noble County police were able to capture 23 year old Anthony McClellan of Churubusco.  McClellan has outstanding warrants for Domestic Battery, Theft, Driving While Suspended with Priors, and Possession of Methamphetamine and is in the Noble County Jail where he's held without bond.

Earlier in the day, the suspect attempted to flee police. He is believed to be connected to a battery case earlier in the day. During the pursuit, an Indiana State Police officer fired at the man. It is not believed he was hit.

The confrontation happened in area about eight miles north of Columbia City close to the Whitley-Noble County Line.  Authorities are asking drivers to avoid that immediate area, and residents nearby should remain indoors.

WOWO's Phil Kuhn reports officers were prepared to search door-to-door.
