UPDATE: Person Found Dead During Search in Arcola

ARCOLA, Ind. (WOWO): A person has been found dead as Allen County Sheriff’s, SWAT teams, and State Troopers were searching for a man who allegedly robbed a liquor store Wednesday afternoon on Illinois Road.

Witnesses say police were surrounding a building of apartments that are located above the old U.S. Post Office in Arcola.

According to our partners in news at 21 Alive, once officers made entry into the building, they found a deceased person.

Officers were originally led to this area in search of a suspect that they believe barricaded himself inside the building, after robbing the S&V Liquor Store on Illinois Road, just after 1:00 p.m., Wednesday afternoon.

According to Fort Wayne Pubic Information Officer Mike Joyner, they received a call about a man wearing a grim reaper mask, dressed in a camouflage sweatshirt and blue jeans, going into the liquor store. When Fort Wayne police responded to the scene, a store employee told officers that the suspect left in a red truck, that didn't have a bed.

Police located a similar truck near the apartments in Arcola, where the body was found, but no word yet on the identity of the person or if they were the suspect involved in the robbery.
