UPDATE: Pedestrian Struck and Killed Thursday Night, Identified

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man, who was struck and killed Thursday night in Fort Wayne, has been identified.  According to the Allen County Coroner, 30-year-old Jabaar Wilcox of Fort Wayne died of blunt force trauma.

 

Fort Wayne Police say just before 11:00 p.m., Thursday night officers were called to E. Pontiac Street near Alexander on report of an injury accident.

 

When they got to the scene, police found Wilcox who was hit by a vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead.

 

Initial reports show he was in the road for an unknown reason when he was hit. The vehicle stopped and waited for police. At this time, it’s unknown if alcohol played a role in this incident, nor is it known why the victim was in the roadway.

 

The manner of his death has been ruled as an accident.

 

Wilcox is the 8th traffic fatality for Fort Wayne and Allen County this year.
