UPDATE: Oliver St. Shooting Victim Identified, Police Question Gang Relations

According to officials with the Allen County Coroner's Office, 22-year-old Datavis Cummings of Fort Wayne was pronounced dead on the scene in a home in the 4600 block of Oliver Street. Police were called to the home just before 10:30 p.m., Sunday. Upon arrival, they saw a number of people running from the home. 

Our Partners in News at 21Alive interviewed Officer Jeremy Webb with the Fort Wayne Police Department who said, “We don't know yet if it is a gang-related shooting, evidence still being determined, that's not being ruled out, that could be a possibility.”

The cause of death has been determined to be gunshot wounds and the manner of death has been ruled as a homicide. Cummings is the 5th homicide for Allen County in 2015.

According to the Journal Gazette, the incident may be related to another shooting that occurred in the same area earlier that day.
