STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Thursday afternoon, just before 3:00 p.m., wanted non-compliant sex offender, 27-year-old Corey Witsman was located and apprehended in Edon, Ohio.
Witsman was wanted out of Steuben County, on two arrest warrants. One charging Witsman with allegedly violating terms of probation and the other for allegedly violating Indiana’s Sex and Violent Offender Registry law.
Once information was received by the Sheriff’s Office that Witsman left the area, Sheriff’s detectives reached out to other law enforcement agencies to help track him down.
Witsman was booked into the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio and remains held awaiting extradition back to Steuben County.
UPDATE: A woman was also charged with felony obstruction, after lying about Mr. Witsman being inside her residence. Also at the residence, a man was charged with possession of a stolen firearm. Drugs were located inside the home and numerous felony drug charges are pending. Police discovered other stolen property that will eventually lead to charges in both Ohio and Indiana.
