Update into the Indiana voter fraud investigation

INDIANAPOLIS, IN- An update on the Indiana State Police investigation into voter fraud sweeping the state.

State police spokesman Capt. Dave Bursten says that the investigation is continuing into reports of voter registration fraud in 56 Indiana counties.

“We anticipate that this will go on through the end of the year,” Bursten says. “There’s a lot of individual pieces of paper that need to be looked at, reviewed, verified.”

Officials say the investigation stems from a group by the name of Indiana Voter Registration Project turning in forged voter registration applications.

“We have direct instances of people stating that their information was changed based on information we have in our hands that had been copied from reports from county registration offices,” said Bursten. “People we have contacted have said ‘I did not do that’.”

Bursten says they aren’t able to tell at this point how many registered voters may have been victims of voter fraud.

He urges people to verify that their voter registration information is correct by contacting your county clerk’s office or the Secretary of State’s Office.
