Update From Friday I-69 Crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  The start of Labor Day travel was made difficult with several crashes around the area.

Indiana State Police say a box truck driven by Derek Lightle of Sheridan did not slow down to Trooper Trent Kiefer's emergency lights and sideswiped his cruiser.  The truck driven by Lightle then continued and struck a car driven by Tammie Bell of Fort Wayne, sending the vehicle into the median.  From there Lightle's truck then hit a Freightliner tractor trailer driven by Marvin Childers of Richmond.

The accident sent the drivers to Lutheran Hospital.  Kiefer was taken to the hospital for neck pain, Bell was treated for shoulder pain and was released and Lightle sustained leg injuries.

The closure on I-69 from exit 302 (US24/Jefferson Blvd.) to exit 296 was shut down between 3:10 p.m. until approximately 4:49 p.m. when one late reopened.  All lanes were reopened at 5:30 p.m.
