UPDATE: Ball State Officials Give All Clear After Search for Gunman

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – Ball State University has issued an all-clear after warning students and staff that a man was seen with what appeared to be a handgun near a campus library.

Ball State spokeswoman Joan Todd says campus police investigated that report and deemed the campus secure about 90 minutes after a text alert was sent Monday morning to students and staff. Todd says the Muncie campus is now returning to normal activities.

She had no information on whether the report about the gunman was valid.

A text alert sent at 8 a.m. Monday urged students and staff to remain put in a secure place. That alert said a white man with a medium build was seen walking near Bracken Library with what appeared to be a handgun in his left hand.
