Indiana State Police responded to the two vehicle crash Monday afternoon around 1:30 p.m., in Decatur. 19-year-old Juliana Griffith of Decatur, was traveling westbound on County Road 900 N. As Griffith approached the intersection with County Road 400 W, she failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection.
As a result, Griffith’s vehicle struck 40-year-old Denise Acosta also of Decatur, causing both vehicles to go off the roadway.
The airbags in both vehicles deployed and both drivers were seat belted at the time.
Both women were taken to the hospital as Griffith experienced a lower leg injury and Acosta sustained leg and upper torso injuries. Griffith was also cited for failing to yield the right of way.
