Two Indianapolis Officers Charged with Bar Beating

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Two Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers face felony battery charges for allegedly beating a man at a bar.

WRTV reports  court documents and a video of the Aug. 7 incident show Officers Michael Reiger and John “Nick'' Serban beating a 29-year-old man, Serban putting him in a chokehold, and Reiger dragging him facedown out of at Mikie's Pub on the city's south side.

Documents described the man as drunk and belligerent when the off-duty officers confronted him. One of the officers showed his badge, which the man then flung across the room before the beating began.

A police spokesman says Reiger and Serban were arrested without incident Wednesday.

Neither of the officers has published home telephone number and they could not be reached for comment.
