Two Fatally Shot at Bloomington Retirement Home

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Southern Indiana police say two people found shot to death at a Bloomington retirement home may have died in a murder-suicide.

Bloomington police found the bodies of a 77-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman Friday morning at Meadowood Retirement Community. The victims' names were being withheld pending notification of their relatives.

Lt. Steve Kellams tells The Herald-Times the man apparently shot the woman, then himself, with a handgun found at the scene. Several shots were fired from the gun.

The woman recently moved into an assisted care room at Meadowood, but the man doesn't live at the retirement home. The relationship between the victims wasn't immediately known.

The bodies were found in a room the woman shared with another person. No one else was hurt or threatened.
