FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Two children are in critical condition after a head-on crash Monday night.

Just before 8:00 p.m., officers were called to a crash involving two vehicles in the 4800 block of Hatfield Road. Once on the scene, they learned that three children were still inside a vehicle, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

A boy was hospitalized in critical conditional. Another boy was determined to be in serious condition at the scene, but was later downgraded to critical condition at the hospital. Then the third child, a girl, was determined to be in serious condition.

The three adults involved in the crash are all listed in good condition.

Police tell WOWO News, that it appears one of the vehicles was traveling north on Hatfield Road when it crossed the center line and suddenly jerked, causing the vehicle to swing and strike the vehicle traveling south.

Alcohol and speed are suspected to be factors in the crash, according to police. Meanwhile, the driver of the northbound vehicle was taken to the Fort Wayne Police Department for further investigation and testing.
