Twin boys, 3, Died in Tippecanoe County Fire

MULBERRY, Ind. (AP): Authorities are investigating a Tippecanoe County house fire that killed 3-year-old twin brothers and injured their father and a woman.

Landon Tyler Abbott and Liam Cecil Abbott were pronounced dead at hospitals Saturday after sheriff's deputies pulled them from the burning home near the town of Mulberry, about 50 miles northwest of Indianapolis. They found one boy on a bed and another on the floor of a first-floor bedroom.

Deputy Shane Howard and Sgt. Andy Cree say they found the twins' father, 31-year-old found Brandon Abbott, and 31-year-old Nicole Thomas on the front lawn of the home. Thomas is being treated for burns and smoke inhalation at an Indianapolis hospital. Brandon Abbott also suffered burns.

Investigators say they aren't sure how the adults escaped while the boys could not.
