Twenty Years for Attempted Murder for Fort Wayne Teen

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne teen was sentenced to more years than he's been alive for shooting another man.

18 year old Jordan Mathis was actually given 30 years in prison by Allen Superior Court Judge John Surbeck on Thursday, according to the Journal-Gazette, but 10 of those years were suspended.

Mathis pleaded guilty last month to attempted murder. He shot 19 year old Charley Allen Junior in an act of revenge on March 24th. Mathis reportedly “emptied a clip” into Allen as he stood on his front porch on Violet Court east of Fairfield Avenue near Packard Park. Allen was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but he did survive.

Mathis was acquitted in October of raping and robbing a woman in February.
