Twenty Six Recruits Begin Training

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – New police recruits began their journey of becoming Fort Wayne Police officers today.

Twenty-six recruits were welcomed this morning by department leaders at the Public Safety Academy. They'll undergo five months of training.

It marks the 61st recruit class. It's funded through a $1.25 million dollar grant from the federal government. 

The class is made up of:

Male white 18
Female white 3
Male black 3
Female black 1
Female Hispanic 1
Male Hispanic 1

Recruits range from 22 to 35 years old.
