INDIANAPOLIS (AP): A major shake-up for Indiana politics could be coming this week as Donald Trump considers Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his Republican vice presidential choice.

Pence is expected to attend a fundraising event and rally with the New York billionaire in Indiana on Tuesday – just six days before the Republican national convention begins in Cleveland.

If Trump picks Pence as his running mate, it would scramble the Indiana governor’s race as state law says Pence would have to drop his re-election campaign by noon Friday.

Potential replacements to face Democrat John Gregg in November include Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb, Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma and U.S. Reps. Todd Rokita and Susan Brooks.

The new candidate would be picked by the Republican state committee.
