Trucker to Serve One Year in Prison for Fatal Crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): It's a one year prison term and seven years suspended for a Wisconsin trucker charged in a 2013 fatal crash.

In January 2013, Scott Saunders slammed into a line of cars near US. 30 and Doyle Road east of New Haven. The collision killed 65-year-old Suzanne Stephanson of Monroeville and 43-year-old Sandra Dealey of Convoy, Ohio. Six others were injured.

Last month, he plead guilty to 12 charges, the Allen County Superior Court Judge hearing the case accepted the deal at sentencing today. He originally faced 16 charges, including reckless driving, criminal recklessness and involuntary manslaughter.

Saunders will also have six years of probation part on home detention and serve community service. It could be 10 years before he gets a drivers license.
