Truck Hits I-65/70 Bridge After Project Announced

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A truck has struck a low overpass on Interstates 65-70 in downtown Indianapolis one day after Indiana highway officials announced a 90-day closure of the key freeway to lower pavement and prevent future truck strikes.

Indiana State Police dispatchers say a truck hit an overpass at the South Split of the freeway Thursday afternoon.

No one was injured and the truck wasn’t stuck under the law bridge.

Frequent truck strikes on seven low bridges over the freeway led the Indiana Department of Transportation to announce Wednesday it would close the key freeway serving downtown Indianapolis for up to 90 days this fall to lower the pavement below seven bridges at the South Split.
