Trial Date Set for Semi-Driver Arrested In S.C.

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO):  A trial date is set for 51-year-old Scott Saunders, who was taken into custody for allegedly causing a crash on US 30 in which two women died last year.

According to our partners in news at 21 Alive, Saunders appeared in front of an Allen County Judge Tuesday morning. His five-day jury-trial should begin June 23rd.

U.S. Marshals arrested Saunders in Greenville, South Carolina back in January 2014, on 16 counts including reckless homicide, involuntary manslaughter, and criminal recklessness.

The charges stem from a crash that happened back in January 2013. Saunders was driving a semi-truck when he hit several vehicles that were stopped at the intersection of State Road 930 east and Doyle Road.

Two women died in the crash and several others were injured.

When Deputy U.S. Marshals told Saunders they had an Indiana warrant for his arrest, Saunders admitted he knew what the warrant was about.
