Town Mashal Badly Hurt in Motorcycle Crash

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP): Police say the town marshal of a central Indiana community suffered severe head injuries in a motorcycle crash.

Columbus police say Hartsville Town Marshal Alan Ross wasn't wearing a helmet when his motorcycle collided with an SUV at an intersection in the city.

The Republic reports the 64-year-old Ross was flown after Tuesday's crash by a medical helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital, where Ross was listed in serious condition. Hartsville is a Bartholomew County community of about 400 people some 40 miles southeast of Indianapolis.

The driver of the SUV wasn't injured.
