FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – Summer has officially started! June 21 marks the end of spring and the beginning of a season filled with swimming, cook outs and sunshine!

Looking for something to do this summer? Check out 10 great things to do in Fort Wayne this season.

  1. Visit the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo – Check out all the cool exhibits including the African Journey, Australian Adventure, Central Zoo, Indiana Family Farm, and the Indonesian Rain Forest. Adult admission is $14, children are $10.
  2. Go to a Tincaps game – With almost 30 home games left before the beginning of back-to-school season, there’s plenty of time to watch the Fort Wayne Tincaps at Parkview Field. Check their website for ticket prices, seating charts and game times!
  3. Check out a Fort Wayne festival – Downtown Fort Wayne is set to host a number of festivals this summer including Greekfest, Three Rivers Festival, Dragon Boat Races, and more!
  4. Spend an evening at the drive-in theater – Although Fort Wayne doesn’t have its own drive-in theater, there are two close by! Visit the Goodrich Huntington Twin Drive-In or the Auburn-Garrett Drive-In to see your favorite movie on the big screen.
  5. Grab a cold treat at Zesto’s – If you love ice cream, Zesto’s is a Fort Wayne staple you have to try. Stationed at several locations throughout the city, there’s sure to be one near you.
  6. Go kayaking on the riverfront – Rent a single or double kayak at Fort Wayne Outfitters for three hours, half-day or a full day. It’s a great way to see the city from a new perspective.
  7. Take a tour on the city’s new Duck Boat – Enjoy a 90-minute land and water tour with downtown views. Rides are $22 for adults and $10 for children.
  8. Go camping at Johnny Appleseed Campground – Now open for the 2017 season, pitching a tent at the Johnny Appleseed Campground is a great way to spend a summer weekend.
  9. Spend a day at one of the city pools – Looking for a good way to cool off? Visit one of the city pools! The public is welcome at Northside, McMillen and Memorial pools. Check online for ticket prices and season pass information.
  10. Go for a hike – The Fort Wayne Regional Trails Network consists of 90 miles of multi-use trails in the Greater Fort Wayne Area. Check online to see what trail works best for you!
  11. Binge-watch Netflix while enjoying the A/C – If you’re not the outdoorsy type, spend your day in the cool air conditioning with your remote in-hand. There are plenty of television and movie options on Netflix.
