Three Injured in Van Wert Crash

VAN WERT, OHIO (WOWO): Three people are injured after a crash in Van Wert Wednesday around 6:32 P.M. Police say a vehicle driven by 17-year-old Scott Cowling, of Van Wert, was going east on Wren Landeck Road and didn't stop at the stop sign at the intersection of US Route 127. When his vehicle went into the intersection, it was hit on the passenger's side by a northbound vehicle driven by 64-year-old Susan Applegate, of Harlan. Cowling's vehicle continued off the road where it flipped, coming to a rest on its top. Applegate's vehicle came to a rest in a corn field. Cowling, Applegate, and her passenger, 64-year-old Jeffrey Applegate, were all taken to local hospitals. Jeffrey Applegate was then airlifted to Parkview Hospital. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
