FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Three men were arrested after leading Fort Wayne police on a brief chase Thursday afternoon.

Fort Wayne Police told WOWO News it started when a detective tried to pull over a vehicle for speeding on East Washington, near Memorial Park, at about 2 p.m.

The driver refused to stop, and during pursuit police say he and his passengers threw drugs and handguns out of the vehicle, with one gun going through the windshield of a parked car.

Eventually the three men ditched the car at the intersection of Pennsylvania and Kitch Streets, but ran right into a barbed wire fence, where they were caught.

Police were able to recover a Ruger P85 handgun, which is the gun that was thrown through a car’s windshield, as well as a Glock 19 handgun lying on Pennsylvania Street. They also found marijuana, opiates, and cocaine on the side of the road.

Arrested were 33-year-old Kareem McPherson, 25-year-old Ashton Buchanan, and 25-year-old Varnell Coe, of various charges.
