NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) _ Authorities say a historic New Albany home has been hit by fire for the third time this year.

New Albany Fire Chief Matthew Juliot says the fire Tuesday night in the John H. Weather House engulfed the upper level and attic, spreading through hollow walls. Fire also struck the vacant home in November and in March. 

Indiana Landmarks' Southern Regional Director Greg Sekula tells the News and Tribune (http://bit.ly/1MXckZX) the home was built in 1902 and its absence would leave a gaping hole in the community.

The home was built for lawyer John H. Weathers. Sekula says the home was built in the Queen Anne style with Classical Revival details in what was then a fashionable part of New Albany. Now, Sekula says the neighborhood is in peril.
