The skating ponds at Lakeside and Ivan Lebamoff Reservoir Parks will continue to be closed this weekend, as the ice is weak and won’t hold the weight of skaters.
The recent cold temperatures and high winds have produced a thin, smooth ice on top of the ponds, which looks safe, but Park officials warn that the ice is much thinner than it appears.
While the ponds remain unsafe for skating, red lights and flags will be displayed at the sites.
