FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department are warning residents about someone taking mail from mailboxes.

Police say they have recently responded to several areas of the city where mail was taken out of mailboxes and scattered throughout the city. Officers say the most recent incident occurred in the Northeast portion of the city.

Police believe that the individuals are taking mail out of the mailboxes in hopes of stealing money or gift cards during this holiday season. Police are asking for residents to be observant and report any suspicious activity to local authorities.
