The Pepsi Coliseum Project Is Moving Forward

The Indiana State Fair Commission approved $63 million in financing for the entire project. Indiana Finance Authority General Counsel Jim McGoff says the authority will administer the issuance on bonds on the project come October. Commission Chairman Andre Lacy says the new Coliseum will address needs for a diverse and flexible entertainment venue that will also be up to modern code. The Commission also approved the second of an estimated four bid packages on the project. Commission members also green-lighted another $15.3 million in contracts on the project as well. Those contracts include new roofing, metal facades, plumbing, electrical work, elevators and ice rink system. So far, the Commission has approved $18.4 million in contracts on the project. They expect to approve another bid package totaling $30 million at their October 11th meeting. A closing ceremony is planned for the facility on October 27th and demolition will begin around November 19th.
