The firefighter killed in a tanker crash is identified…

An autopsy performed this afternoon identified the volunteer firefighter who was killed after he lost control of a tanker truck as Mark Haudenshild II.

Around 9:00 last night, 25 year-old Haudenshild was driving a water tanker truck from Hillegas onto Butler, when the truck flipped onto its side.  It also took out three utility poles.  He was trapped inside for while because crews couldn’t get to him due to several wires that came down onto the truck. Rescuers had to wait for linemen to cut off the power before they could move in.

A procession was held this afternoon, as the Washington Township Fire Department escorted their fallen brother from St. Joseph Hospital to D.O. McComb and Sons on Lake Avenue.
