WARSAW, Ind. (WOWO) – A telecommunications company is planning to eliminate almost 300 jobs at its Warsaw facilities.

The Minnesota-based KGP Telecommunications LLC cited “a sudden decrease in business from a large customer” as the reason for the loss of jobs, according to The Journal Gazette.

Affected facilities include locations at 2000 W. Winona Avenue and 3454 N. Detroit Street in Warsaw, with the majority of affected workers being at the Detroit Street facility.

As the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act requires companies to alert employees at least 60 days in advance during mass layoffs, job losses will begin on April 17.

Although several hundred employees will be laid off, company attorney Matthew Drevlow states it’s unclear whether the actual Detroit Street location will close.
