GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana teenager has pleaded guilty to a murder charge, testifying that he knocked on a man's apartment door and shot him because of a gang dispute.
Nineteen-year-old Miguel Martinez-Villasenor of Elkhart accepted a plea agreement in court Thursday that calls for a 60-year prison sentence for the March shooting of 26-year-old Anthony Perez at an Elkhart apartment complex.
Martinez-Villasenor told the Elkhart County judge that he and Perez were friends and members of the same gang, but he committed the shooting because Perez had recently posted a photograph disrespecting their gang.
Martinez-Villasenor fled to Chicago after the shooting and was arrested there in May.
