Teen Faces Adult Charges in Death of Bluffton Boy

BLUFFTON, Ind. (WOWO): A teen connected to the death of 3-year-old Owen Collins could be tried as an adult.

Monday in Wells Circuit Court, 16-year-old Zachary Barker had an initial hearing. He's scheduled to appear in court again Feb. 6. At that hearing, the judge will consider waiving the case to adult court, according to the Journal-Gazette.

The boy's mother 21-year-old Breanna Arnold and her 30-year-old boyfriend are charged with six felonies including neglect of a dependent, abuse of a corpse and obstruction of justice.

Court documents show the boy was given drugs in his bottle. The badly burned body was discovered in rural Wells County Jan. 18.
