Teen Dies In Springfield Crash

SPRINGFIELD, Ind. (WOWO):  A crash on Tuesday took the life of a Kendallville teenager.

Just before 1 p.m. a woman was driving on State Road 3 and did not stop at the US 20 intersection.  She entered the intersection and was struck by a truck driven by 73 year old Keith Young.  Young's vehicle rolled over onto it's side, and eventually hit a truck driven by David Berens.  Both Young and Berens were wearing seat belts.

The woman was driving a 2006 Chevy HHR.  She was 21 years old, from Kendallville and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.  She had two passengers, an infant and a 15 year old female teenager.  The status of the child is unknown, but the teen died from her injuries.  The police report shows all the people inside the vehicle were wearing seat belts.

None of the people inside the HRR have been named, as the information is pending the notification to family.  The crash is currently under investigation.
