Teen Already In Prison Gets Eighty Years For Rape, Robbery

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A teenager already in prison for a long time will likely spend the rest of his life there after he earned another, longer sentence Tuesday.

19 year old Tahj Thomas was already serving a 50 year prison term for a string of Craigslist robberies. But, in Allen Superior Court Tuesday, he was sentenced to 80 years in prison for the rape and robbery of a woman in 2014. Thomas was given two 40 year terms back to back on the two counts.

Court records show Thomas was joined with another man when they went up to the woman as she was getting her 4 year old child out of the car. Thomas then pointed a shotgun at her while he raped her nearby.

In court, Deputy Prosecutor Thomas Chaille called the crime predatory and further went on to say that it was “humiliating and degrading for the victim” because the victim had to crawl to him.

Thomas apologized to the victim in court and said that he was going through a lot at the time, including drug use and dropping out of school.

Despite his apparent guilt in court, the News-Sentinel is reporting that Thomas plans on appealing the sentence.
