FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Staffing shortages may force Fort Wayne Community Schools to use e-learning in the near future in a type of “rolling blackout” scenario.

Superintendent Mark Daniel announced on a Facebook Livestream yesterday that in addition to being short dozens of bus drivers, the district is also facing a major substitute teacher shortage:

“We have shortages in every area… teachers are double-timing.”

Daniel adds that the school district has been offering bonuses to try and get former teachers to come back, but that hasn’t been very successful. He also said they might ask the City of Fort Wayne for help.

Maybe if FWCS administration and board did not always make huge decisions without actually thinking of who it will impact, their employees would feel valued enough to stay. When you are so far distanced from the classroom that you make rash decisions and then dig your heels in the ground saying there is no meeting to let teachers voice their frustrations or other suggestions that may work better than your under thought plan, you will lose teachers. When you force your employees into positions they did not ask to go into because again you made a life changing decision for them, but thought that compensating with an extra 50 to 60 cents an hour when some of them are still only make 10 dollars will entice them to stay, you are going to lose employees. Open your eyes FWCS the shortage is not your only problem, your lack of knowledge about what it takes to run a classroom and the fact that you have bullied your employees is the problem. Administration you did not even have the guts to come to the schools to tell them the news yourself. Instead you let the principals at each school have to break it to their staff because you were too much of a coward to have to deal with the repercussions of your actions yourself
