Teacher Accused of Recording Boys in Shower Fired

ELKHART, Ind. (AP): A northern Indiana middle school teacher accused of secretly video recording boys showering in a school locker room has been officially fired.

The Elkhart Truth reports that Elkhart Community Schools board of trustees voted Monday to cancel the teaching and coaching contracts of Jim Iannarelli. He had been a science teacher at West Side Middle School and wrestling coach at Elkhart Memorial High School.

Iannarelli faces 13 felonies following allegations of inappropriate video recordings in a boys' locker room.

West Side Middle School Principal Kristie Stutsman informed Iannarelli of the preliminary decision to cancel his contracts in a Dec. 11 letter, citing immorality, insubordination and other good and just cause. He was given five days to request a conference with Superintendent Rob Haworth. Iannarelli didn't request a conference.
