Syracuse Man Facing Preliminary Charges in Connection to Fatal Double Shooting

SYRACUSE, Ind. (WOWO): A Syracuse man, 22-year-old Kyle Dehart, has been preliminarily charged with murder in connection to a recent double shooting. Dehart, has also been preliminarily charged with obstruction of justice.

He’s currently in the Kosciusko County Jail and at this time, there is no bond.  Dehart was previously arrested on February 19th regarding two outstanding Kosciusko County misdemeanor warrants.

He is believed to be the third person charged in connection to the February 19 killings of 19-year-old Joshua Knisley and 23-year-old Tara Thornburg.  Both were shot in their Syracuse home. Knisley was found in the upstairs of the home with a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead on the scene. Thornburg succumbed to her injuries Friday, February 20.

Authorities have not specifically said his charges are connected to the deaths of Knisley and Thornburg, but that is widely believed to be the case. Additional information related to the new charges/warrants that were issued against Dehart will be available in the coming week from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor.

22-year-old Brandon Woody was taken into custody Thursday, February 19, after the shots were fired. Police say Woody shot both Knisely and Thornburg.
