FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A police chase in Fort Wayne Tuesday afternoon included the suspect crashing into a Fort Wayne police car.

Almarez Davelle Henderson, 49, is accused of stealing a Jeep from a gas station at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to 21Alive.

Police spotted him in the Northcrest Shopping Center, which caused Henderson to drive through grass to get away.

The chase continued in and out of Glenbrook Mall property before Henderson drove into a fully marked squad car. Officers said he had a chance to go around the car, but decided to drive into it anyway.

He then took off north on Coldwater, then stopped before hitting another squad car. He got out of the jeep and looked like he was going to run. Then an officer drew his weapon and told Henderson to get on the ground.

Henderson then laid on the ground.

Henderson is charged with theft, resisting law enforcement, auto theft, criminal recklessness, leaving the scene of a crash, and driving while suspended. Police found four larges purses from TJ Maxx in the stolen vehicle.
