Surgeon Pleads Guilty to Two Counts of Stalking

PERU, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana orthopedic surgeon has pleaded guilty to two counts of stalking in return for prosecutors dismissing a charge that he plotted to kill his ex-wife.

WLFI reports 48-year-old Gregory Konrath of Peru pleaded guilty Tuesday in return for an attempted murder charge being dismissed. The plea agreement calls for Konrath to face a sentence of 10 years but not spend more than four years in prison. He will serve the rest of his sentence on probation.

Konrath will have to wear an electronic device that will notify his ex-wife and former girlfriend when he is within 50 miles. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 20.

Konrath was arrested in July after police say recordings secretly made by his former girlfriend revealed he plotted to shoot his ex-wife.
