Sunday Alcohol Sales Latest

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): An Indiana House committee chairman says he hasn't decided whether to take action on a proposal that would end the state's longtime ban on Sunday alcohol sales at retail stores.

House Public Policy Chairman Tom Dermody of LaPorte says it will probably be a few weeks before a decision is made on setting a hearing for the bill. Business groups seeking to end the ban had hoped Dermody would sponsor a bill doing just that, but Republican Rep. Sean Eberhart of Shelbyville has already authored one. The bill must be approved by Dermody's committee to be considered by the full House. Eberhart says he's optimistic about his bill's chances and believes the public supports changing the law.
