Summertime looking to shake up various Fort Wayne businesses

Lucretia Cardenas, Editor of “Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly” joined Charly Butcher on “Fort Wayne’s Morning News” to talk about what is coming up in this week’s issue:

1) Summer is prime time for holiday planning
Katrina Newman began checking things off her Christmas list last October for the upcoming 2016 holiday season – and that’s typical for someone in her position.
The marketing manager for Jefferson Pointe already has a signed contract with Santa, a deal with a reindeer supplier, lights and music on order and programmers and assemblers scheduled to put up the center’s animated Christmas tree this fall. The 14-month lead time really is needed to get everything done, Newman said.
2) ‘Sinkhole state’
Indiana generally has a positive reputation as a state with a well-balanced budget but one organization is still labeling it as a sinkhole state, noting that it does not have enough assets at the moment to cover all of its debts.
3) River North owners look to sell
A 29-acre property that Greater Fort Wayne Inc. would like to see used for its proposed “STEAM Park” is now listed for sale by its owners for $6 million.
4) BAE cuts coming next month
Employees who will be affected by a workforce reduction plan at the Fort Wayne BAE Systems plant will be notified of that by late July. None of those notifications will be going out to any of the plant’s hourly workers.
