Suicide Threat Leads to Use of Tear Gas

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Police Department was called to a mobile home on Wells Street between Elmer and Franke Park Drive after a 911 hang up call. While officers responded, dispatch talked to a person who was inside a mobile home making suicide threats. Officers tried unsuccessfully to make contact with the person several times. The Police Department’s Emergency Services Team and the Crisis Response Team came to the scene and also tried to make contact with the individual but were likewise unsuccessful. After around three hours, officers deployed tear gas into the home, and the individual exited and surrendered to police. The person was then taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating.
