Stutzman Statement on New VA Inspector General Report on Fort Wayne VA Hospital

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Friday afternoon, U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued the following statement regarding the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of the Inspector General’s newly published report on improvement efforts at the Fort Wayne VA hospital:

The new VA Inspector General report demonstrates improvements have been made at the Fort Wayne VA hospital since the pause in its operations in 2012. I am pleased the leadership at the facility has been working hard to make progress in hiring qualified doctors and nurses and updating their administration of care. The most important thing is that veterans in our area have access to the timely, high-quality healthcare they deserve. I will continue to closely monitor the hospital’s efforts in improving care for our community’s heroes.”

In November 2012, Congressman Stutzman and then-Congressman Donnelly requested the VA OIG to review the decision made to pause all inpatient care at the Fort Wayne facility.
